Calliope is moving from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11!
We have prepared one of the most important technical upgrades ever made to the Calliope client: the transition of the graphics engine from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11.
This upgrade is far more than a simple version change. DirectX 11 allows the CPU and graphics card to handle characters, effects, shadows, and multiple objects displayed simultaneously much more efficiently. This reduces the bottlenecks of the old DirectX 9 engine, which limited performance especially in heavily populated areas.
Initial tests already show a tremendous difference:
-Significantly higher and more stable FPS
-Far fewer FPS drops in cities and crowded areas
-More efficient rendering of players, monsters, and effects
-Better utilization of modern hardware
-Superior image quality
-A modern graphics foundation for future improvements
The most important result is not simply reaching an extremely high number of frames per second, but maintaining a smooth experience when numerous players, shops, monsters, and effects are displayed on screen the exact situations where DirectX 9 showed its limitations most clearly.
Results may vary depending on each systems configuration, but the difference observed during our tests has been enormous, reaching up to 1000 FPS.
Calliope continues to evolve: modern performance, improved image quality, and smoother battles—even in the most crowded areas.
